Charity — chaga, tyaga, chariya — means unconditional giving.
Not a transaction. Not a favour returned. The Vedic rishis taught one thing above all: Give off everything as a way of sanyasa vairagya (renunciation and dispassion). Lightly. Without burden. Without expecting any return.

Go forth, O seekers. Tyaga (renunciation), which nurtures the souls of angels & humans when they are selfless.

I. It is given.
II. It is given without expectation.
III. Once given,
it cannot be taken back.
Arjyantu vittam meru, samam trunantu, tyagaye vittam.
Earn wealth vast as Mount Meru, the great Himalayan peak.
But when you give, treat it like not even the worth of a strand of grass, in merit of Dharma; thus, it makes the heart lighter.
Chaga for soul's purpose is the quickest matured wisdom of investment to make self-actualisation, or becoming selfless, to be lifted from the inertia of self-love or selfishness.
Sabba daanam, dharma / Vidya dhanam jeenathi

"Of all charities, the gift of dharma (truth) or vidya (wisdom) is supreme."
This is not academic knowledge — that only inflates ego and teaches us to earn money. True vidya shatters avidya (ignorance) at every moment. Charity that supports an enlightened Guru, or a tradition that teaches this pure dharma, is therefore the greatest charity.
